Welcome to the 24th Mallorca Seniors Open 2019

Dear Seniors,

24 years of Mallorca Seniors Open! It is my pleasure to invite you to this tournament at the Tennis Club FONT DE SA CALA in Mallorca.

Helge AlbrechtWhen I first started this event in 1995, 24 years ago, nobody could foresee the amazing development that this tournament would take on. From a Grade 5 ITF tournament with 75 participants the Mallorca Seniors Open, now a Grade A tournament, has become a fixed event on the ITF Circuit. The ITF Seniors Committee has rewarded years of excellence in running the tournament and, for the first time, has upgraded it to a Grade A tournament in 2018.

In previous years, more than 800 players from over 40 nations took part in this event, which shows how happy everyone involved and how exemplary the event organisation is. Hence the Mallorca Seniors Open is one of the most important seniors’ tournaments in the world. Both, Tennis Europe as well as the ITF, have put the tournament into their calendar as an event which counts for the ITF- and European rankings.

All the people involved – players and their guests – were delighted with the friendly atmosphere and the excellent organisation of the tournament in the past years. Furthermore, the very personal ambience of the 4-star hotel as well as the entertainment program, the official players’ evening and the big raffle contributed considerably to the success of the whole venture.

Once again we can foresee that even more players from further nations will take part in the 24th tournament. The tournament has over 850 players and more than 1,350 matches having to be played in one week is simply not feasible anymore. That’s why the ITF as well as the “Federación Española de Tenis” have given the permission for the 24th Mallorca Seniors Open to be played over a period of two weeks.

Tournament dates:
Week One: Young Seniors and Seniors (age 35-60)
29 September – 05 October 2019

Week Two: Super Seniors (age 65-85)
07 October – 13 October 2019

Apart from the prize money of 15,000 Euros there are also valuable points for the ITF- and Tennis Europe rankings to be won. However, despite this high level both, county and regional players, have felt as much at home in the past few years as the world-ranked players. Do not feel put off by the high prize money or by the world ranking points. Seniors from the district- to the top league are just as welcome as the nationally and internationally ranked players.

The Tennis Club FONT DE SA CALA, the tournament hotel as well as the tournament staff will as always do their very best to provide all the participants and their accompanying families and friends an unforgettable tennis experience in Mallorca.

In order to make our planning and organisation easier and better, please register for this tournament online at the ITF with your IPIN number as soon as possible.

The entry lists will be opened by the ITF 15 weeks prior to the entry deadline of the tournament.
